The Personal Compilation Tape project began even before the ESW Compilations initiative, as an early — and ultimately unsuccessful — attempt to offer custom compilations to our customers. The idea was simple: allow listeners to choose a selection of songs from our artists and have them compiled into a single release. We would then produce a one‑off CD copy of that compilation, complete with a layout created from image files supplied by the customer.
Although the project was discontinued relatively quickly, we went as far as programming our online store at the time to let customers build their own tracklists directly. In practice, the process proved too complex to implement effectively, and the project was eventually abandoned.
Even so, we released four Personal Compilation Tapes on CD as an experimental feature included in our 10th anniversary celebrations.
